Every Life is a Tapestry
Every individual is a unique combination of experiences, beliefs, preferences, routines and rhythms of daily life woven together to create a one-of-a-kind life. At The Arlington, we understand that living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of age-related cognitive impairment changes many things; but it doesn’t change the value of every individual.
MyTapestry has been designed to take advantage of the latest discoveries about how to help people with various forms of memory loss thrive and feel secure in their environment. This begins with discovery. Dedicated, trained professionals take the time to learn about each individual resident by talking with family members to gain an understanding of his or her unique history, preferences and rhythms of daily life. This knowledge enables the MyTapestry team to meet each resident where they are, creating a customized daily routine and a living environment that supports his or her highest level of independence.
Features of the MyTapestry Program Include:
- Private studio apartments with walk-in showers
- Dedicated professionals with expertise and specific training in dementia services
- Licensed and certified nursing professionals 24 hours per day
- Medication administration
- Availability of additional services tailored for each individual
- Ability to work with outside organizations to provide additional personalized options
- Individual climate control
- Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet
Ageless Grace
Ageless Grace is a cutting-edge brain fitness program based on neuroplasticity that activates all 5 functions of the brain — analytical, strategic, kinesthetic learning, memory/recall, creativity and imagination — and simultaneously addresses all 21 physical skills needed for lifelong optimal function. Created by Denise Medved, the program consists of 21 simple exercise tools designed for all ages and abilities. These exercises, based on everyday movements that are natural and organic, focus on the healthy longevity of the body and mind.
Yoga and Meditation
Yoga is proven to improve flexibility, build muscle strength, promote good posture, slow cartilage and joint breakdown, protect your spine, increase blood flow, boost immunity, reduce pressure, regulate adrenal glands, help one focus, improve balance, release tension in limbs, help one sleep deeper, boost immune system functionality, give lungs room to breathe, help reduce IBS and other digestive problems, ease pain, keep allergies and viruses at bay, and strengthen connective tissue, among many other benefits. Meditation echoes many of the same benefits, such as reducing stress, controlling pain, improving sleep and decreasing blood pressure. Additionally, meditation can help control anxiety, lengthen attention span, and can generate kindness. Staff members are encouraged to participate alongside our residents in an effort to promote well-being across our neighborhood.
Dining in Style
This monthly event is a culinary experience! Our chefs create dynamic menus for the evening to create a fine dining, restaurant experience, complemented with strolling musicians, floral centerpieces, and upgraded china. The event is thoroughly enjoyed by our residents, families and guests each month. Many of our couples regard this as, “date night.”
